Ladies and Gentlemen,

Drifting at Harris Hill Road in San Marcos, TX is back. The hiatus during 2009 was due to three main reasons:

1- Most drivers preferred Sundays, which were not available last year.
2- Not enough drivers participated during previous events to reserve a Sunday per month for drifting.
3- The cost was too high for most drifters to sign up.

Harris Hill Road and San Antonio Drift want to support Drifting and Drifters, as well as anyone who wants to improve his/her car control skills. For 2010, we will try Sunday afternoon drifting to satisfy drivers’ time and budget requirements as well as Harris Hill Road’s availability. As the number of drivers increases, we will increase the hours allocated for drifting. Ultimately, it will be great to have one drift Sunday per month.

Your support is needed and greatly appreciated. I have been drifting Harris Hill Road in my stock BMW Z4 in both directions and it never fails to put a big smile on my face. It will be more fun when other drifters come out to play.

Our next event will be Sunday April 25, 2010. This first event in 2010 will be from 4 pm until dusk. This provides about 4 hours of drifting. Here is the best part: The cost for the event is $50 if you sign up by April 22 and $75 if you sign up at the door. Please remember that this is a race track and not a parking lot.

There are two main requirements (and a bunch of other safety requirements posted on www.SanAntonioDrift.com):

1- Tech Inspection. Your car MUST be safe. No loose batteries this time.
2- Tow Hook. It is required when it is wet.

With only few hours to drift, lets make sure we all do what it takes to be efficient and to maximize hot track time. Please tech-inspect your car a week before so that we start promptly at 4 pm.

As for the format, such as how many drivers on track at one time, we will try multiple formats until we find the optimal one. We will first start with three cars on track for two laps. During my Drift Nirvana events, we found out that that was a good format to keep the rhythm. Then you pit in to cool off your tires. Depending on how things go, we will increase the number of drivers on track per lap to increase your drifting time.

Tandem is welcomed as long as the participating cars meet tandem drifting safety requirements.

If you have any questions, please let me know. If you want to volunteer, we need you.

Registration opens on Monday
