Little back story....my current car started out a shell like most, swapped over the suspension and motor from the previous car which I wrecked to shit through various drifting accidents....

Drove/drifted it like that for about a year I think. Stripped the interior, bent my own roll bar, added a few more goodies here and there. Nothing spectacular. Pretty basic diy drift car. Then I briefly toyed with the idea of an SR20. That lasted about 2 months. I was about to drop 2-3k in the motor, go 2871, pfc, ect...shoot for 350-400hp. That would be kinda pushing it for me with an SR though I've had an LS1 swap sitting in my garage for about 2-3 years collecting dust. Just never had the time to do all the fab work to get it in the car and get it together. I finally just said **** it. Sold my SR and ordered a swap kit from Daft. I haven't driven the car in a couple of months and I've kind of been dicouraged about working on it. It looks so sad out there on mismatched rims and all taken apart. I've been driving my grandma's 240, yea I said grandma's, and it kinda sucks. Its super clean inside and out, a real nice car but its slow and rides too smooth. I can't take it anymore. Enough is enough. I finally mustered up some energy to start on my project again. Here we go....

Here we are after we removed the 30mm overs and began prep for the 50mm's.

YAY!!!! lots more room! Also not in pics, I filled the wholes where we folded the inner fender over with non water obsorbing spray foam to keep moisture and debris from coming off the wheels and flying into the back of the car.

This is where things get a little scary. But dont worry, I have a plan!

Structural integrity? Whats that??? Tommorow Im gonna get the bottle filled for the welder and start stitching everything that has a seam up front. I plan to reinforce the frame/tower by welding a bar from the towers to the frame rails and then sheeting that in to keep the shit off the road from getting through the wheel wells. That should be sufficient. For the core Im going to use some light 1/4" square metal are something similar. I really only need something that will hold the radiator and headlight brackets in place. I think I may also make some fender braces before my new front fenders arrive. I've got alot of other stuff I plan to do before this thing hits the track so I'll be updating as I go along...

fuck you charles. Your just mad because my cars more mad max than yours. lol

Stitch welded the front of the chassis today. Tommorow is on to the tubs. Then radiator/headlight brackets and prep for paint. Widebody should be here next week and then I just have to decide on what kit Im gonna order. At the least Im gonna pick up a front bumper so I can get everything lined up up front correctly.

How wide of a wheel do you plan to use to take advantage of tubs? Are you going to be running modified spindles?

Im going to probably run around a 245/255 in the front. Im going to make my own spindles and cut the bump stops off, make that sits flat on the control arm. I know an old welder that use to do submarine shit that I use to do all my really hard to weld or high stress parts. I didnt feel like having my engine bay look OE and didnt want to hammer my front fender wells due to larger wheels and added caster. There really isnt any reason to why we did it the way we did. Just kinda got bored and got the torch out after it. It looks good with paint on it now though. Im going to make my removable core support tommorow. Probably just some light tubing. Just enough to hold the radiator up and hang the light brackets from. Im gonna run hood pins now considering the latch is gonzo. Ill post pics soon, mazdarati took some and Im charging my camera up.

those are cool. Mine cost 1/4 that though and were way more fun to put together + the fact that the battery tray/core support is no longer in the car those wouldnt have worked, although I may do it like that next time.

not much has changed. still having retarded ideas that vary from day to day. Did get a little progress done tonight though. Got the old front suspension out and the new xmember in. Was going to throw the front back together but I need balljoints/tierods/rack bushings as mine are all shot to shit. lsjuan should be sitting in her tommorow night for mockup/wiring. Ill keep ya posted. check it out.

[/URL]Im so glad this stuff came off. Everything was pretty loose or worn the fuck out. Dont mind the stock struts, makes it easier to get under/around/jack up car as its slammed with the coilovers on it.
