im wondering what the name of this part is, because mine is bent, it seems as though someone who owned the car before me hit the crap out of a curb or something and now it is real loose. im wondering if they are the same for s14's and s13's and if anyone has one laying around.

is the tension rod itself loose or is it the bracket that is loose?

thats your tension rod bracket , ussually the front to bolts that bolt up to the front of the car , are loose , jusst tighten them back down , but look around to see if you see bends of anything in it , if there are you want to replace it , also get an an alignment, and see what else is messed up down there

the brace would still be loose and not fix his problem , , if its loose , its because of the bolt and hole , , he would either need to re thread , or use a bigger bolt like i did with loc tight and a impact , or weld it on like corey
a nismo one will just be a upgrade , but not fix his problem at hand

looks like how mine was. it had be wrecked prior to camo owning it, and the constant abuse by him and then carl then me finding a GIANT pothole on babcock made mine NASTY loose and it was a stripped nut to blame. I just drilled it out and used a larger guage bolt/nut combo. as far as the power brace quan travis was pointing out the fact that instead of getting another old used bracket, just upgrade and kill two birds with one stone.

ok, thanks guys. yah it is DEFINETLY bent but like the tie rod is still intact and stuff. for now im going to torque it down and see if that does anything but soon i would like to replace it. so are the s13 and s14 ones the same? They look similar but they could have thier subtle differences i supose.

haha, i wish i had a welder so i could just freaking weld everything buy i dont :/ BUT! i fixed it, it was the tie rod, it was real loose where it bolts up to the suspension or what ever. so now it is alot more stiff, thanks. but if any knows if the tension rod brackets are universal id like to know.
tie rod? tie rod connects the steering rack to spindle. anycase, replace that brace with another oe one or just bend it back with some vice grips. Not sure if 13/14 are the same but Ive got some s13 braces laying around.

i dont think vice grips will pull it all the way back. yah i dont know if it is a tie rod or a drive shaft or a sub woofer, all i know is it was loose and now it is tight lol. i know i am a terrible mechanic but if there is one thing i can do right is break bolts off with my brute strength. than i get to do the important part which is drive it. one day i will finally make it back to your 240 kingdom get that brace and get my diff welded. the help is much appreciated.

oh yea the s13 and s14 are not the same , but since he has s13 brackets mabye you can line it up and see what need to be modded if any , and more than likely it was your tention rod that was loose not your tie rod ,
tie rod isnt connected to the tention rod bracket
