whats cheaper and more reliable for a DD?

sr is not cheaper but waymore reliable , people are going to come on here after i post this and say im talkin out my ass but on the real you can have a ka-t car but unless u have the money to make it reliable ur better off with a sr ,

you spent a lil more but in the long run its more reliable , go on the net and find out how many people are still ka-t and ask them how many engines or rebuilds or turbos or watever they have gone thru

going ka-t is cool , if you have the means to keep up with it and do it right , goin sr is branless , swap in and get goin

i agree with quan, fo r simplicity and reliability go with a nice low mile sr, ka-t's can get pricey and most ka's are super high mileage and prone to blowing under boost, unless you rebuild/reinforce it.

you can do a LOW boost ka-t build alot cheaper than buying an sr swap considering you probably have a ka already. It really just depends on how much power you want and what your budget is. If you dont know what your doing I would sr the car as it is much easier that trying to piece a kit together w/ used parts.

My .02 would be to keep the ka and throw an intake/header, exhaust/ cams in it. I stuck with the na ka for a long time and alot of people have mistaken it for an sr while drifting. It really doesn't matter what you have its how you use it. If you haven't reached your full potential with the ka there is really no reason to have an sr or turbo car. Yea its "cool" to have an sr but you'll learn fast that its really just a big pain in the ass.

well when it comes to my kind of budget right now i cant b spending the money right away other words ill have to save it. But now that u mention na-ka that seems more to my budget and am pretty sure i could drift nice with a nice build so any info on parts or what to do to the car ill apreciate thanks

just like ryan said, nice headers, exhaust, intake, and cams. carl has that set up and it slides just fine! ask him... just buy quality parts so you don't have to replace shit later on.

any advice on what cams should i get? oh also better injectors or stock will do?

The size of injectors is directly related to the turbo you are using. If you're just going with a budget build throw on a t25 and you can use stock SR 370's. Because the engine is higher in compression and larger it will net more power than a stock SR @ 7lbs which will be sufficient enough to have fun. Tuning is key in the reliability of a KA-t. Yes there are other factors which contribute to reliability/unreliability but tuning is what will make or break your ka-t. Your best bet is to run a flashed ecu through enthalpy or someone local like a Q-tune from g-garage in houston. Don't listen to people who say it will run untuned or on an SAFC because your shit will blow in no time fast...

yea.....what he said

a buddy of ours is running a super budget build on half ass motors (i say motors because the bottom is from one motor and the head is from another), a td04, enthralpy tuned ecu, 550cc injectors, and some ghetto rigged pipes. its by far one of the scariest and most fun cars ive been in after riding with many of the other guys on this forum. like pete said, tuning is everything. cheaping out there will cost you big time down the road. and there is no way you can accurately say one motor is more reliable than the other. quite a few of the people on here have been through a few SR motors/t25s already. the easiest way to get more power and still have a relatively reliable motor is to jump on the SR bandwagon and just throw it in like it is with a new clutch, water pump, and other misc. parts...the better way is to just throw an LS1 in there
