Greetings,

Texas Drifters periodically email me asking for another San Antonio Drift event at Harris Hill Road in San Marcos. My reply is always: We can have an event every month provided that enough drivers commit.

Harris Hill Road is no longer renting the track on Sundays. I know many of us work on Saturdays. If there is enough interest in drifting on Friday afternoons, then we only need about 20 drivers at $100. I can get the track from noon until 6 or 7 pm, which is more than enough time to play. I will confirm with H2R regarding how late we can stay. I was once told that we could stay until it is dark, but I need to confirm.

If interested, let me know ASAP when you can commit. As an H2R member, I can drift Harris Hill Road anytime, but as a drift enthusiast, I really want to try again to get a regular drift club going. I have said it many times that I am not in it for the money. I just cannot finance it on regular basis. I had success with Drift Nirvana on the east coast because all involved parties delivered:

1- Track’s management worked with us to grow the drift community. H2R’s management is committed to help us too. However, they are running a business and they cannot finance our events either.

2- Drifters signed up and paid, even if they could not show up, just to demonstrate to the track’s management their commitment. Checkout http://www.driftnirvana.com now.

In summary, I want to give a local drift club another try. Let me know what you think, what you want, and how you can contribute.

Have a great day

Drifting at harris hill would be cool but no sundays is going to be tough. Not to bea negative nacey but i dont see it happening. Have you tried to find air ports with vacant space like aaron did. Just a thought. Good luck hope every thing works it would be kick ass.

Charles, Travis, Chris, and Tyler all work at the same shop and could never all take the same day off to come out. There wouldn't be anyone to work, lol. Not sure about Corey or Kevin. Doubtful though, maybe with enough notice. I know I could make it. Why aren't they doing anything on sundays? Thats race day usually. Weird. I think if its gonna work we would have to be able to run at night or have it sat/sun. Night drifting would be awsome but the neighbors probably wouldn't like that too much. I guess just let us know what we can get going and we'll try and work with it. Shit, I'm considering a membership so I don't have to worry about it.

I went to the meet location several times but no one was there (between 9:30 and 10pm). Has the location changed? If there is a meet tonight, I will stop by to discuss.

BTW, we can run H2R in both directions. If we get an event going, we should try the other direction. I will try it the next time I am out there. I am still waiting for my tires.

H2R is no longer renting the track on Sundays because that is the day most members show up. Will Saturday afternoon work? Will any weekday afternoon work, except for Wednesday because the track closes on Wednesday?

we've been meeting at the academy off 1604/shavano park lately. I'd be down for either day seeing as its closer than houston and dallas. I'd rather break down some place thats not far from home ;D

OK. I will be there tonight. Just to confirm, it is off of 1604 in a relatively new shopping center. Correct?

Anyone want to discuss the plan, please stop by.

I love how you used drift nirvana as an example. I live about an hour from summit point raceway and go to all the DN events :) Everybody is really cool and we all help each other as much as possible, very organized and it seems to do pretty good.

Is this plan still going on? If it is, I am down. In fact, I am going to the Harris Hill track day on the 12th.

I will be instructing. See you on 9/12.

Several people want to setup regular drift events at H2R. We just do not have enough to cover the cost.

20 people is the minimum requirement?

20 people is the minimum requirement?

There is no minimum requirement. 20 people is what we need so that the cost is affordable to most of us.

I was talking to Josh with RE-Tuning and he frequents the track. He was telling me something about a drift/grip day coming up at HH.
