Welcome Friends!!! Its time for Gymkhana racing in Texas!!! :D

For those that don't know, Gymkhana is the Japanese version of autocross, in which drifting is allowed and your main goal is efficient technical driving and car control, to allow you to navigate through the course in the quickest time possible.

the course layout is such that the fastest way through is to drift in some sections.

Tech inspection starts at 9:00am, driver's meeting will start around 9:45am. Please be there early enough for this if you intend to drive.

Runs will continue throughout the day, probably until shortly before sunset, or until everyone is tired and no drivers wish to make any more runs for the day, whichever comes first.

All runs will be timed, but only your fastest run will count.

This course will be huge by gymkhana standards taking an avg of 2 minutes to complete.

The course will include barrel racing, reverse section, 180's, and a stop box.

There will be a tech inspection of each car before it is allowed to go on the track, which will include a quick lookover of the car and safety equipment (ie helmet, seat belts, ect.. )

The inspection will also include a J turn. We need to see that your cars suspension is up to the task of keeping you from rolling over so a quick 15 mph j turn will give us a chance to make sure everyone will be safe and have a fun day..

Tech will be strictly enforced to weed out high CG vehicles. Those vehicles that fail tech due to high CG will be allowed to run but will not be allowed to use the reverse section.

Prices for the event are as follows:

Drivers entrance fee - $40

Pit access (if you are not driving but are with a crew or want to hang out in the pits with the drivers) - $5

General spectators area - Free!!!

The top finisher will recieve free admission to the next Cloudfactory sponsored Mineral Wells event, and we aim to make these a regular thing.

The #1 finisher will recieve free admission to the next event.

The track will be located at Mineral Wells Airport.. In the back on the old tarmac...

Thanks and I hope to see you there!!! :D

hha yeah it was a little town out side of houston angleton i think it was next to Lake Jackson and there course was super small and it kept raining off and on so it was hard to get traction fun none the less.

yes you can run the course either drift or grip. fastest time counts.

its more about car control than all out drift, its also a way to take the subjectivity out of drift judging

i have added another class entry for this (competition class) will be 75.00

Winner of the comp class will receive a New Comp Turbo ordered to there specs in journal bearing up to specs of a 35R, meaning you want a GT28RS, GT2871, 30R,35R, you can get the journal bearing equivilent, you can also have one made to your specs, or the winner can pay the difference and get it upgraded to a triple ball bearing center section.

San Antonio has already used up all its possible places and have been kicked out due to drivers either having shitty cars that leak fluids all over the parking lot, or were only allowed one event and then kicked out after that since the SCCA people hate drifters for the most part and don't want to share their places with anyone else. So, San Antonio is out of the question for a while. Until someone in SA is willing to build/find a spot only to just throw thousands and thousands of dollars away to a bunch of kids who will claim they will come to an event, and at last minute say they can't show up. SCCA has had quite the hand in taking away a lot from drift event in SA though. I've personally been at one event at San Antonio Raceway, one at Verizon Wireless stadium, and one next to the SBC center. Nobody wants drifters in San Antonio. Hell, Houston use to have such good turn outs at events back in like 2005 and 2006 and then slowly after that died to where Daily Drifter is no more. So now, the ONLY person in this state that hosts drift events is Aaron. And even he can't do many GGP events because of how expensive it is and how many people do/don't show up. Mineral Wells is just cheap enough to host so that he can run an event that people can have fun at, and still make it completely affordable. Also, Bryson said someone needs to start events in San Antonio. Good luck. Everytime Aaron would help with any events in SA, he would lose at least 1k each time. What kind of investment is that? People have 'started' events in San Antonio. Stop thinking it's some 'untapped market'.

Cliffnotes: San Antonio is never gonna happen. It had it's chance many years ago, but more than likely will never happen again. Just be grateful for what this state DOES have.

Also, this is not to go against anything about the Gymkhana events. I actually mean to to go to this, but got a phone call and decided to go party in San Antonio with Ivan from Houston instead.

Here are a few photos and video I got at the gymkhana this weekend. Had a blast, nice technical parts that make you learn. The back barrels were my favorite. Can't wait for the next one!

Just a few photos I snapped throughout the day and two on car videos so you can see the entire course. Compilation video coming soon.
